The 2020 Miss USA final event held Monday, November 9, under coronavirus protocols at Graceland Exhibition Centre in Memphis, Tennessee. 22-year-old Asya Danielle Branch, who was the first Black Miss Mississippi, walked away with the Miss USA 2020 crown, becoming the first woman to receive the crown from her state.
In 2018, she was crowned Miss Mississippi and went on to compete in the Miss America competition where she finished unplaced. She however placed second runner up in the pageant’s Quality of Life awards category.
2019 was the year Asya’s dreams began to come true. She contested for the Miss Mississippi USA title and won and now she is Miss USA 2020. She will go ahead to represent the United States in the Miss Universe 2020 pageant.
